Most local business associations run on a mailing list, a spreadsheet of members, and somebody’s memory of who does what. Gather replaces all three: a public directory the members maintain themselves, a meeting record anyone can read, and a way for members to bring each other in.

What it does

## Three things an association cannot do with a spreadsheet.

### A directory the members own

Every member writes their own description. Each one decides whether their email is shown and can pull their listing entirely from their own page. The change appears on the public directory immediately, because the page reads live from the association’s records rather than a copy someone has to remember to update. Phone numbers are never published.

### Members bring in members

Any member can invite a business they already work with. The association reviews it, then the invitation goes out *in the inviting member’s name*, with their own note quoted in it — and the inviter is told when it is accepted. The directory grows through relationships that already exist instead of cold outreach nobody has time for.

### A public record, not a filing cabinet

Every agenda, set of minutes and meeting recording, published and free to download with no account. Agendas post ahead of the meeting and minutes follow within the week. Residents, prospective members, funders and the county can all see what local business is actually asking for.
